LG Electronics Inc., Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. Good idea and has some of the right players providing input. But reality will eventually settle in and politics will start to get a foot hold.

Spring 2007 might bring the first draft but there's just about zero chance of it receiving approval and adoption in that timeframe. By comparison, 802.11n is another standard which could conceivably be an HD answer in the near term, was started in 2003 and once the power struggles started between the players it became silly. Current estimates have the final adoption taking place in perhaps mid 2007 now.

Because this is an overlay to existing wireless standards eventually you have to play ball with the existing big hitters in networking who will all want a piece of the piece of the pie, be it in chips or in having input on the standard. That's where the process will bog down.
