Cpmcast can boast all it wants about On Demand HD, but the facts speak for themselves. Comcast has dragged its feet as much as possible in offering new HD channels.

I called the other day to complain that while all of the games offered in the MLB package are originated in HD, none of them are carried in HD by Comcast. Their answer was that they had only so much capacity.

As soon as Verizon wakes up to the value of sports in HD, I'm outta here.

Right on, Richard! Comcast and most of the other cable services have become the latest incarnation of the venerable Snake Oil Salesmen. The crap they spew to take advantage of the general public's lack of knowledge about technology is sickening, in my opinion. Trying to fake the numbers game regarding the amount of HD content is not only misleading but also an insult to those services who are actually trying to increase the number of real HD channels not just focus on insubstantial hype.

Another gimmick used by the cable companies involves their totally misleading claim about how their high speed Internet service is "up to five times faster than high speed internet from the phone company." They conveniently choose not to mention that they are comparing their cable modem speeds (up to around 15Mbps) to the DSL offerings from the phone company (peaking at about 3Mbps) and not the fiber offerings from the phone company that are running at 20Mbps speeds. In my neck of the woods the phone company is Verison with FIOS and the cable culprit is Cablevison/Optima IO service. Not only is FIOS at least 33% faster than cable, but it's less expensive than cable and even less expensive than DSL! I laugh every time I see one of these misleading ads from the cable services but I cry when I think of how much more difficult this makes the job of people like Dale and Shane who are trying to educate an unsuspecting public.

That's why I would never, ever consider going back to cable. I've paid my dues. I may have been born at night - but it wasn't LAST night <g>.

They count each "On Demand" HD movie/show as one HD choice. So they're saying that at any given time you have 500 HD shows to choose from (one for each HD channel plus one for each on demand HD show).

Snake oil indeed. And you guys thought DirecTV was guilty of false advertising!

Like I said in another forum, the key here is CHOICES, not CHANNELS!!!

But if I have 100 HD CHANNELS then I'll actually have, over the course of just one evening (7-11 pm), somewhere around 400 HD CHOICES. And tomorrow night I get a DIFFERENT 400 HD CHOICES. As opposed to HD On Demand where you have the same ones night after night.
