Would you be really upset if I told you that your 7777 already has a built-in FM trap?

allen,
Not at all, all suggestions useful, but I had checked to be sure the built in FM trap was active, so did not suspect this source initially. However, the FM trap in the 7777 apparently is not enough and Ken suggested TWO FM traps. I think the problem may be the ch8 signal is so weak it is in the noise of the local FM stations. I don't have the spec on the built in FM trap attenuation, but two traps obviously should be better than one. Using the 7777 to amplify ch 8 also amplifies any FM in the band.

Ken, you are correct (as usual)--- thanks a bunch- problem is solved as well as can be. I now have all 5 channels running. (BTW there are 9 elements in the LPDA VHF section counting directors and reflector- just 3 wired dipoles)
I e-mailed the station yesterday that I was getting no picture for 2 days, then about 11 am today the cycling of the signal stopped and picture and sound appeared with no change in signal strength- 68-71. I didn't change anything. Wonder if I am their only viewer who noticed, as they have made NO public announcements of their digital channel.
I have monitored channel 8 for a couple of hours now ( with the FM trap between the 7777 TV out and the receiver in) and there were NO dropouts, just enough above the 60 where they appear. I also monitored channel 18 that did have dropouts before the 7777 every 10 minutes or so, and did not see any in an hour. Best I have seen.
So I am going to leave the 7777 installed with the Radio Shack FM trap and monitor it in different weather. Right now it is clear skies. This is important for the HR 10-250 as it only has digital OTA-no analog- only way I can Tivo some of the network shows, even if only SDTV. So now I can record all local networks.
Chalk another one up for Ken- three cheers "rah, rah, rah"!.
Unfortunately all I am going to get for "several more years" of Fox only in SDTV- no Super Bowl HD yet again. ( Unless Congress changes the law in the Home Satellite bill)
This forum is a great help!.
Thanks again,
Don
