I guess it all comes down to, if you like what you have, keep it. You asked a question regarding digital inputs, you got answers, some simplistic, some more involved. I'm not sure you want help at all with your replies.

At the FM station we have Orban FM processor. The input can have a dynamic range of 20~30db, the output has a dynamic range of 2db(yuck) the compression is massive to say the least. But this is necessary to the station sound LOUD, not my idea of good sound. But thats what the program director wants.
Tune to a AM station, then tune to a FM, even one that has a lot of compression will still sound better than the AM station.
If you were to compare analog to digital, most likely you would choose the digital. john
