Hi! I'm not much of a tech-y and although i can get by with hooking up the cables to the tv/foxtel/dvd player/stereo system, this problem has got me totally stumped and extremely frustrated!!

I bought a Sony XBR Series Bravia tv about 6 months ago, and connected it up to my PS3. When i tried playing singstar, the vocal comes through with about a 1/2 a second delay. We ended up selling the PS3, but later on, we bought some mics and a little amp thing that you plug the mics into (i got it from a sunfly store). It's a simple little thing that has 1 AV in and 1 AV out. I connected this to my DVD player and tried the mic - again, i am having the same problem.

My system is not very complicated and all i have is the tv, foxtel, dvd player and a stereo hooked up to it. I cannot for the life of me figure out why i'm getting this delay - and as you can imagine, there's virtually no point in using the mic to sing karaoke when you're out of sync!

Someone has suggested to me that it could be because the two speakers of my stereo is too close to the TV (they are placed on either side of the TV) - however, even if i turn off the stereo, the sound from the TV still projects the delay...

I hope someone can help me out.. PLEASEEE!!!

There may be an adjustment on the PS3 for this... hopefully a member knows for sure...

Thanks for your reply - i'm not so concerned with the PS3 anymore as i've sold that.

I am still having troubles with the microphone that i connect to my dvd player though. I had a read of the link that you posted in your reply - does this usually happen only with some TV's? (i.e. depends on your luck whether you get a bodgy tv or not?) I lent my singstar game (back when i had it) to a friend and they told me they had no problems playing it or having the same issues as i did.

Since the only common thing with both problems is that they are/were both hooked up to the TV, i'm thinking the culprit is the TV.. i don't really notice it when playing movies etc but i guess it's way more apparent when you're singing and you can hear your own voice coming out delayed!!

It is due to the video processing that is part and parcel of any digital display. A CRT display does not have this problem.

I just read the link for the topic: 'Audio Delay/Lip Sync Error' and went to http://www.audaud.com/article.php?ArticleID=3011 to check out the lip sync error delay units. The purpose of these units seem to do the opposite of what i need - i.e. these units delay the audio to match up with the visual whereas my problem is a delay of the microphone's audio compared to the audio of the dvd which seems to match the visual of the dvd.

Is my problem different? For example, if i play a MTV from dvd or foxtel, the mouth of the singer, and the sound of the audio is in sync. The problem only presents itself if i then try and sing along with the audio - that's when my voice comes out 1/2 a second (or even in some cases a full second) after i sing it..

Does this mean that the video processing etc that digital displays have issues with might not be the issue?
