Plot ... Based on the stage musical. The Phantom of the Opera tells the story of a disfigured musical genius who haunts the catacombs beneath the Paris Opera, waging a reign of terror over its occupants. When he falls fatally in love with the lovely Christine, the Phantom devotes himself to creating a new star for the Opera, exerting a strange sense of control over the young soprano as he nurtures her extraordinary talents.

Cast ... Gerard Butler, Emmy Rossum, Patrick Wilson, Miranda Richardson, Minnie Driver

Review ... I thoroughly enjoyed this film from start to finish. Fabulous sets and costumes. It is a real spectacle from the opera house to the dungeons. And a great cast including 16 year old Emmy Rossum who plays Christine and has an amazing voice.

Blu-ray quality ... Reference Quality ... the best I have yet seen on my system. Picture Quality is bloody jaw dropping incredible ... almost 3D! Sound Quality is also outstanding ... great clarity and room shaking LFE. The combination is a must own disc for anyone owning a high end theatre system. For those who have not seen the film ... it begins in grainy, black and white ... as are a several scenes ... which is such a contrast to the razor sharp, eye popping images in the majority of the film.

I highly recommend this film.
