Hi. I'm new to this forum. Excuse me if I'm not doing this right. I have a Mitsubishi 73727 and I'm having video problems. I don't know if it's a light engine problem or not. Based on the stream of messages here, it appears that light engine problems include blooming, shadows, etc. My screen is simply dark. My first thought was that the bulb is going bad, but the yellow indicator isn't 'on' so I'm not sure it's the bulb. I'd appreciate any guidance. And again, sorry if I've violated forum protocol.

Your complaint does not match the criteria for the thread. Not your fault and that is why things are moderated...

You say your screen is simply dark so I assume you mean no picture, correct? How about OSD, on screen display? If you press volume do you get a volume bar, if you press menu do you see the menu?

everything was dark......there was a picture, but very dark.
I took a chance and installed a new bulb and it works fine now.
I was pretty sure it was the bulb....everything pointed in that direction, but the indicator light (for failing bulbs) wasn't on and that puzzled me. I guess the indicator light simply doesn't work, but the TV is fine now. Thanks for responding!

You definitely had a rare experience. The reverse, yellow lamp based on hours used, and the picture seeming to be just fine putting the owner in a quandary as to whether or not they should buy one is more common. I recommend getting one even if things appear to be OK in case it turns red which means the lamp has failed and MUST be replaced. Glad to hear you found the solution!
