This one should be great for all you ol' Deadheads. It's about a cross Canada train trip the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, The Band, Janis Joplin and a bunch of others took in 1970(?) doing concerts and partying along the way. This footage has been sitting on the shelf for decades and it's great to see them dust it off and clean it up. Btw, that tour was immortalized in the Dead's song "Might As Well."

I watched Festival Express last night and was captivated by the remarkable restoration they did with this slice of history. This stuff was in somebody's garage for thirty years. The sound for the most part was astonishingly good. The emotional power of Janis Joplin's voice will bowl you over along with some really sharp video that should win the tech guys awards for cleaning up. The whole thing is also tinged with a certain sadness as you watch such young performers, captured in their prime, and then realize so many of them died such needless deaths.
