If you have not seen this 1959 B& W movie directed by Billy Wilder, or if you want to see a "Legendary Classic" again in its OAR, it is now playing on HDNET Movies. Again on Jan 3, 8 & 9 and later too. (If you use Tivo or a DVR to time shift record I noticed that HDNet was slightly past the precise scheduled time point in starting the movie- Set recorders for 15 minutes longer than the 2Hr indicated time, so as to not miss the famous last line!- use maybe 2hr-15 minutes or so.)

Thanks for the tip, you saved me from a very disappointing and frustrating evening.

I DVR’ed it when it was first shown recently and was planning on watching it the other night. After reading your post, I decided to make sure that I recorded the entire movie. I skipped to the very end to check.

Didn’t record the entire film.
Hate when that happens.

I try to set the DVR for a longer end time but usually forget, until I get burned again—then I remember. Seems to occur quite often. I use the SA 8000 DVR but that’s the least of it’s problems.



p.s. Watched Local Hero that night instead. Slow pace but a terrific movie

We all have been burned by movies and sports "running" past the scheduled end time. It is especially prevalent on movies which are exactly 120 minutes.

BTW, for those who have not seen this film- the issue of same sex marriage is even more relevant today, so the importance of the "last line".

Well I finally had a chance to watch this and it was great!

Two musicians are looking for work and their best opportunity is to join an all girls band except for one problem, they are guys. After witnessing a gang land murder though they decide to solve two problems at once and get dressed up to take the job which also gets them out of town.

I found this movie still fresh and relevant 40+ years later. In fact this movie could be remade quite easily with just some minor changes to the script. As stated by everyone else, a classic that will remain a classic for a long time. Highly recommended.
