John Clark lives a pretty nice life where everything seems to be hunky dory except for one problem, it all seems so dull. Everyday on the way home from work though he passes by a dance studio and is struck by a female dancer he regularly sees through the studio window. One day he decides to see what it is all about, one thing leads to another and finds himself signed up for ballroom dancing. There is one problem. He is embarrassed and the dance studio becomes a secret. His wife becomes suspicious over his late night arrivals and hires a private eye.
While I held my breath expecting disappointment I am pleased to tell you this movie was a lot of fun and very entertaining. Considering the talent of Gere, Sarandon and Lopez in the main roles it is very unfortunate that the script does not fully flesh out these characters and their personal struggles. In the end we have a very enjoyable movie about the dancers and their dancing with a lot of great moments yet the leading characters lack depth while the supporting characters are very real and memorable making the movie worth watching.
