We loved this Bobby Darin story with a fabulous performance by Kevin Spacey. Sound was top notch, and with all that music in the film, that was really a bonus. This wasn't just a straight up bio pic. They added layers of depth by having Darin as a young boy almost mirroring the adult Darin throughout the story. Sort of a flashback in real time, a very interesting vehicle.
The cast was top notch too, with Bob Hoskins and John Goodman. Unfortunately for Goodman, the poor bastard will never overcome being type cast as Rosanne's husband Dan. At least in my mind anyway. Too bad, because I really like the guy. Maybe he should just stay in that Dan Conner character in whatever he does. Is it a stretch to imagine that somehow Dan Conner ends up managing Bobby Darin? Now there's some material to work with.
