Ok well i heared the end of this yr. we will see hdtvs not all but some whatever you know that can do 1080p@60fps and there will be new hdmi to do this. Also i have heared hdtvs will go down in price sometime in 2006 i think it bc more ppl will be wanting and buying hdtvs way more. That bc of upcomeing ps3/xbox30/hd-dvd players/blu-ray players will come out and i know that the ps3 cell will be in some hdtvs im not sure if it will only be in sony ones or not tho, but how will know a tv i am looking for have the cell in it and how will i find out the tv can do 1080p@60fps. Bc all hdtvs/tvs will say the Revolution/revolutions and i/p but not the fps. So it makeing me think lol and how much will or do you think hdtvs will go down, but wont new hdtvs that can do 1080p@60fps be way more money?
Plx help and thx. Oh and dose anyone know if ps3 can do 1080p@60fps? Also blu-ray can? I have heared.

Kris,
All 1080P displays operate at 60fps but the real question is will we ever have 1080P 60fps sources or 1080P 30fps sources? We don

Kris,
In regards to your question about the PS3 and if it will support 1080P. Here is a link to the press release concerning the PS3 and it's specs.

Ok thx for your help, so you are saying 1080p can do 60fps but there is no tv show or anything useing it as of right now? Also dose this mean hdmi can do 1080p@60fps right? and when a top of the line video game for the ps3 they will use 1080p@60fps. I do mean mosh of them will be in 720p@60fps and some will be in 1080i@60fps but i do say as of now best is 720p@60fps bc 1080i@60fps dose the odd lines 1# and then the even lines 2#. So 720p@60fps is best bc it loads both at the same time even lines/oddlines and this is best for picture stll i say and movement would have no mess ups. This is why i am saying i want a tv that can do 1080p@60fps but i do understand mosh ps3 games will be 720p and some will be 1080i. Now if i have my tv set at 1080p and that can go up to 60fps right? So when i play a game on my ps3 when it comes out a game that can do 720fps dose my tv have to be set to that or ps3 im sorry this prolly sounds dumb since i think it dont have to bc ps3 will play ps2/ps1/dvds and there all set at 480p i think? so help me out some here if ya can lol thx. Oh and mjm76 i did know the ps3 can do 1080p but didnt know if it could do 1080p@60fps and now my understanding is that it can? but notting have been recorded or made in as a tv show or anything for that yet. + i knew that part bc mosh hd channels or shows do 720p or 1080i.

Thanks mjm76, note it does not state a frame rate, just scan rate. One would think they are implying 60fps but...
so you are saying 1080p can do 60fps but there is no tv show or anything useing it as of right now?
Except for 720P sports that is correct for 60fps.
Also dose this mean hdmi can do 1080p@60fps right?
The bandwidth is there and I think everyone assumes it will but I have not read the HDMI specifications. All the implications are there that it does support 1080P 60fps.
bc 1080i@60fps dose the odd lines 1# and then the even lines 2#.
There is no such thing as 1080I 60fps. Interlaced 1080 is always 30fps unless the designer uses 540P which is not an industry used scan rate but would yield 1920X540 at 60fps.

Some are and some aren't. Same for X-Box.
To be clear, if you have a 1080P display everything must be scaled unless you have an external scaler or source feeding the display 1080P 60fps and the display will allow bypassing the internal scaler. 1080I 30fps and 1080P 30fps must be scaled to 1080P 60fps to be displayed.

Ok thx you for your help and do you mean by source like the hd-dvd players that will come out. Also blu-ray players/ps3 if they can do 1080p@60fps. I am not sure about hd-dvd player could or not but i think blu-ray players will and ps3 can do 1080p@60fps i think. I wish there was a site that would tell no lie and say ps3 can do 1080p@60fps. Also im not sure if i understanded you right or not on this but what ya said games dont do fps? Well i do know they do fps and 60fps. I cant wait till ps3 and everything i know about it and what it can do. Also know all it specs and all.

Yes.

I wish there was a site that would tell no lie and say ps3 can do 1080p@60fps.
Doing a 1080P scan rate is not the key. The key is the source being 1080P 60fps and that is what we are unsure of. Naturally game designers will want a 60fps frame rate although a 30fps progressive is certainly doable. 60fps is not a requirement for 30fps film derived sources.
All that said the scan rate being output from a 1080P source is likely to be 1080P 60fps regardless of the original scan rate of the source. This is all new stuff and regardless of what manufacturers say we won't really know what is going on until we get the stuff in our hands to test it. The fact that all the 1080P displays thus far do not allow you to bypass the internal scaler with a 1080P input is a perfect example of the unexpected compared to our experience up to this point!
Also im not sure if i understanded you right or not on this but what ya said games dont do fps? Well i do know they do fps and 60fps
That statement is unclear. I was responding to...
ps3 will play ps2/ps1/dvds and there all set at 480p i think?
What I said is some of those games are interlaced and some are progressive. SD DVD is interlaced. No reference to frame rate was implied or given. I was not commenting on new PS3 games.

Ok sorry i didnt get that at 1# and thx for all your help. Now im just going to wait for the ps3 cell to be in tvs but if that be after ps3 duh right well i.ll just wait and see bc i need a hdtv that can do 1080p and i only need one no bigger then 32ich or smaller. I want to try to get a sony one but they cost more and i can only get a tv like geez 300 to 500 tops not even sure if 500 bucks but i got to wait and see. Got to save my money and i need a job lol im 17 and no job right now so that why i dont have much money right now lol.
So do you or anyone know of any up comeing 1080p tvs that will be 27ich or bigger but duh i know bigger but dont know about if they will do it to smaller tvs too.I might just somehow wait and save all my money for a big one but that be freakin hard for me to do, unless i get a job that pays even 50 to 100 bucks a week. Im trying to online selling thing for medichine, but i dont get it or a site till next 3 weeks or sooner idk lol. Ill post it off topic if anyone wants it lol i stll got to find out about it and stuff. So if i make money like 1000 bucks or way more if lucky i know prolly wont happen but they say you get alot or something if you get 20 ppl to buy it. So i know alot of medichine fourms to put it on and one that have more then freakin 1,000,000 ppl on it lol. I hate medichine i am just tryin to make money you know.
