What is required for endorsement by ISF? Does this mean that the devices meet some minimum criteria for performance?

Video cards have been notorious for poor signal integrity as in improper video levels causing all kinds of problems from color temp and tracking errors, chroma contamination color decoding to crushed whites especially with componet video.

Ultimately you cannot calibrate a PC monitor without the PC it is going to be used with. Now you can for the most part with the end user making some final adjustments for their viewing environment.

This became a far bigger problem when people started using PC with home theater displays and in nearly every case the PC would not match the reference standard in many cases tying a calibration in knots because it is the only source with the major problem that needs to be compensated for. While there are variables and work arounds proper signal integrity sure makes life a whole lot simpler.
