HR20 HD-DVR and OTA

Post by cryptikware »

I am looking at purchasing a DirecTV HR20 HD-DVR and the 5 LNB slim-line dish. My question is can I still purchase a multi-switch that will allow me to combine OTA HD with the HD feed from the slimline dish? I had read somewhere that while it was possible to combine HD sat feed with HD-OTA when using the Phase III dish and a channelvision multi-switch, this cannot be done when using the new 5 LNB dish as the MPEG-4 channels interfere with the OTA channels... is this correct?

Any ideas on how to get the sat antenna feed and OTA HD feed to each receiver? Do I need to just run a cable for each? If so, this means three cables to any room that has a dual tuner DVR and also needs an OTA feed.

Thanks

No - the new 5 LNB signal operates at a higher frequency and interferes with the OTA signals and can't be combined. You have to use a different 8 way multiswitch and it doesn't have an OTA input.

You'll have to run 3 cables. Do you really need OTA in all the other locations?
