Pacific Media Reports Flat Panel TV Sales More than Double over December 2004 Menlo Park, California - February 6, 2006. Pacific Media Associates (PMA), the global market information experts on large-screen displays, reports that December 2005 sales for flat panel televisions in North America rose 22% from the prior month's levels, and 112% compared with December 2004's sales. Their Flat Panel Display Tracking Service also shows that revenues rose 17% compared with November, while the average street price fell 4%. Compared with the previous December, 2005 showed a revenue increase of 57%, along with a dramatic 26% decline in average street price. "A lot of the action was in the 30" to 35" size range," according to Rosemary Abowd, Vice President of Pacific Media Associates. "The unit market share for this segment increased two points to 27%, and the average street price for this segment fell 8% to $1,500." The competition between LCD and plasma continues to be a tight race. The Panasonic TH-42PX50U 42" XGA plasma TV was the top-selling consumer model in December, but the Sony KDL-V40XBR1 40" LCD TV was close behind in second place. Panasonic remained #1 in unit share sales for December, but Pioneer held onto its #1 position in revenue share. Upon completing his education in business and service in the military he formed Cripps and Associates, South Pasadena, California, in 1964, which operated as a market-development company for aerospace services.
