This movie is a masterful look into the inter-happenings of the CIA and how hard it is to tell the good guys from the corrupt agents. Yes, believe it or not, the CIA has its fair share of rogue agents. Housekeeper of the Safe House, Matt Weston, is a rookie agent who has been assigned to possibly the dullest work detail in the eastern hemisphere. He has been looking for a way to prove himself to his superiors in the hopes of getting a transfer to a more exciting locale. But all this changes when Tobin Frost, the most wanted rogue agent in the world, shows up at the American Consulate. Frost is brought to the safe house for interrogation but the mercenaries who want him dead are close behind. He informs Weston that the only way those men found the safe house was that someone on the inside told them about it. Now is the time for Weston to earn his stripes by protecting Frost and bringing him in. The ensuing hours are a fast paced, mind challenging thrill ride to get to the bottom of the true story behind Frost's betrayal.

Matt Weston is played by Ryan Reynolds. His role in this film is a far cry from his bread and butter comedic adventures of his past. Who would ever think Van Wilder could be a CIA agent? Well I must say, I was very impressed with Reynolds portrayal of a CIA agent. He is very believable in this role, showing his serious and athletic side as Weston. His fight scenes are very intense and extremely real. I believe this role could open Reynolds up to more serious, action based lead roles. This critic is very impressed.

Tobin Frost is played by Denzel Washington. Let's face it; Denzel is damn well perfect in just about any role. I liken this character to that of Detective Alonzo Harris in Washington's Academy-Award winning role in Training Day. Frost is a brilliantly trained CIA agent that has gone rogue, or has he? His character is helping Weston figure things out even though he is the detainee. He is opening Weston's eye to the politics of the CIA and who you can and cannot trust.

Safe House is a very entertaining and thrilling joyride that keeps you guessing throughout. Highly recommend as a must see for the adrenaline seekers out there.
