Educate the Public by Educating the Retailers
This is a call to the industry.
I am preparing a short online course with adequate testing on the subject of HDTV and DTV. The course will cover those points listed below. When passing the course the student will receive from us their graduation certificate suitable for framing and a badge they may wear at their place of employment or a pin they may attach to their own identification cards. In addition each employer who has one or more graduates will receive signage and printable material for general promotion of their acquired expertise.
Each student will learn:
1) What the value of HDTV is to the individual customers as well as to the nation.
2) The reason why HDTV was developed first in Japan
3) How it the standardization took place in the USA
4) the FCC rulings on DTV and HDTV
5) When it was introduced in the markets in USA
6) What the current status is with all broadcasting including the shut off date for analog services
7) What the current status is with cable in general and specifically in the student's area
8) What the current status is with DBS, including local channels
9) How to find the programming that is specifically in HDTV both online and in print publications
10) Where the sales personnel can get trustworthy updated information daily
11) Where the consumers can go to find trustworthy information they can understand
12) The issue in the installation of HDTV - terrestrial, cable, DBS
13) what does the entrance of the phone company mean to digital television and programming
14) What are the channels available to any given area and how to find them
15) What the various technologies mean, their nomenclature and shorthand expressions, i.e., DLP, LCOS, DILA, CRT, LCD, etc.
16) How to adjust floor samples to look their best
17) Understanding the HDTV signals 720p and 1080i
18) The audio component to round out the experience
19) Other
This list is off the top of my head and I would welcome addions or subtractions from this list.
