Thank you, Rodolfo. At least I unwrap my DVDs. Doesn't mean I watch
them all, though. ;)

And thanks for adding the Mitsu 24FPS 1080p input on VGA information
to my list. That's the one I was thinking of.

I agree with Robert. Add the Mitsu for 24fps on VGA.

That short list was issue with 2005 products one can buy though, and there two items that expand it:

a) Some expensive projectors that were always capable to handle 1080p, but I exclude them because is
for the very hi-end of equipment and people that would not care about a list I produce for the
general consumer.

b) some the new 2006 1080p sets as follows:

. 1080p FPs DLP, almost all of them, check the Optoma 81 due on summer is a knock out, covered on my
report, Ruby watch out).

. 2006 RPTVs from Samsung, even the new LED backlight 56", coming in a few months.

. 1080p LCD and plasma panels will come with 1080p inputs (Panasonic, Pioneer, and others).
Panasonic will go down to even 42" for 1080p plasmas (check the Panny 65" plasma excerpt I added at
the end of this email as a teaser).

Every product I cover on the 2006 report will have an underline of "accepts 1080p" if it really
does, and this year the list is increasing.

Others like Toshiba are ignoring 1080p inputs (and HD DVD outputs) as a company decision, most other
manufacturers blame HDMI, is easier that saying "we did not think of that", which was 1080p from day
one.

By the way Robert, I saw the pictures of your HT construction, congratulations. You have more LDs
and DVDs than Bill Gates (he collected thousands of LDs without unwrapping them).

Best Regards,

Panasonic 65" TH-65PX600U, $TBD, 1920x1080p, TTM Aug/Sep 06, (booth reps commented that Japan is
selling the unit for $10,000, and is expected to be at $8000 when released in the US), 1080p
acceptance expected for later in the year (upon HDMI 1.3 later release they said, although 1080p is
actually not exclusive on the 1.3 version), PC input, NTSC/ATSC/QAM CableCARD tuners, HDMI version
1.2 inputs with HDAVI control, TV-Guide EPG, left, good blacks, skin color very nice, all natural
colors, pixel structure viewable from 3 feet away, best plasma on that size.

When I mentioned that the Sony Ruby, the HP MD sets and the Brillian
were the only models that I knew of that support 1080p input over
HDMI I was basing this on what I learned at CEDIA 2005 and from the
excellent coverage that Rodolfo provided regarding CES 2006. I'm
fairly certain that this was a comprehensive list at the
time. However it's possible that I may have overlooked a set or
two. I know, for instance, that a couple of sets supposedly offer
1080p input support via VGA (Samsung? Don't quote me on that) but I
can't personally confirm that. And I also know that there is a lot
of misinformation being put out there by overzealous salespeople and
even some misinformed people who should know better so I fully
understand the confusion and the rumors that make it hard to nail
this one down.

Believe me, I'm as interested as anyone in seeing 1080p input
capabilities becoming the norm rather than the exception for 1080p
sets for the reasons I mentioned in an earlier post. There have been
a lot of promises made and I'm sure that these sets will be appearing
shortly and over the next year or two. Just be careful to do the
research needed to confirm what you are told if you are looking to by
a model with 1080p input capability.
