I've got a frame rate question.

When producing 720p projects all the content is at 59.94 fps (right?).

I was under the impression that when 720p was broadcast it was 29.97 fps. Is
that not correct?

Thanks
DJ

Doug,

A progressive signal at 30 frames x sec (29.97) is too slow to be shown that way, it would show
flicker.

One example is the classic movie theater projector approach of opening the shooter twice for each of
the 24fps celluloid frames, total of 48 shootings, and still show some flicker but is the trade mark
of film.

720p is recorded, broadcast, and tuned as 60 frames x second, at home the tuner/TV can do many
things with that signal, but that is not your question.

An interlaced signal at the same 30fps frame rate (actually 60 fields) would give different results,
it will not show flicker because the half-image shots taken by the camera and shown at 60 fields
speed (1080i set, the eye thinks they are full frames) or 60 frames speed with video processing to
upconvert fields to full frames (fixed-pixel-displays).

Best Regards,

Rodolfo La Maestra
