A testimonial to Sony Service

A week ago I called Sony tech support to report that my XBR 1 had a decided
yellowish-greenish push in the display.
He said someone would call me. I got the call the next day and was told it
was 99% the optical block and it was still covered by Sony. Today the local
Sony guy called and said the block was in and he could install it today. He
came and the set is looking as good as new. He even offered to help me get
my sound straightened out and showed me how to replace the bulb when it goes
out. Couldn't be happier with Sony support.

Thanks for the feedback, Jack. After the deluge of messages about the
"choices" we are faced with these days (and my own visit to Fry's that
left me scratching my head as to what to consider buying next), I had
been leaning towards the Bravia XBR5. For an MSRP of $4200, the 52"
looks like a great set - and includes 1080p/24, HDMI 1.3 (3 inputs). I
won't be buying anything right away (certainly not before the CES report
comes out), but glad to know Sony's service was good for you.
