Hitachi has introduced two new crt rp displays. They are bare bones and
would not meet the requirements of the Feds with respect to a built in
integrated tuner. These sets have no tuner of any kind. They have a DVI
rather than HDMI connection. They are 1080i not 1080P but the price and
picture are quite impressive for the price. 51" 945.00, 65" 1250.00. Could
be a way to introduce newcomers to HD. Any thoughts?

Anthony: If they have no tuner, they have met the requiements! If a
dispaly has a tuner of any kind, it must also have an ATSC tuner.

Anthony,

Please provide model #s when you request information, Hitachi has released dozens of HDTVs, several
of them CRT RPTVs.

On that size they had until July 1, 2005 to meet 100% integration, during the previous 12 months
they only needed 50% integration to meet the mandate.

Many manufacturers did the same to reach the group of lower cost of consumers exactly for the reason
you said.

Check the 2004 and 2005 reports on the first section of DTVs and see if you find the models there.

Best Regards,

Rodolfo La Maestra

Anthony,

This is the information I found about your question, the sizes you mentioned as 51 and 65 do not
match the announcement, as follows:

"New in CRT rear projection this year, Hitachi is introducing 55W- and 61W-inch monitor-only HD
models under the new Aspect brand. The line will be offered to mass merchants and warehouse club
accounts that have not been part of Hitachi
