Here's a good way to test the Tips list. Has anyone seen this article
regarding high priced cables? And check out the web site the article
mentions where to get lower priced ones. I have not seen an HDMI switcher
that low anywhere. Also, there is a 25' VGA to component cable for $10.97,
when I bought one 2-3 years ago or so, it was $49.99!

The article is here:

The website is here:

I am interested in what those who know have to say about this.

Speaking of low priced cables, I recently found out that the cost of Monster
Video 2 component cables to a big box retailer, i.e. BB, CC, is just under
$7.50 for 3 meters. So I can see how a non-name brand is so cheap.

All I can say is WOW. I applaud the author of that article for equating
HDMI with USB, and will definitely shop at monoprice for cables when I
need them!

Thanks Jordan,

Jason

Hey, Jason, and to all others interested.

Anytime I can find anything like this, I will post it! Me, too, as for
monoprice - what a learning experience this has all been.

You're welcome.

I've been buying HDMI and DVI-HDMI cables from monoprice and have
recommended them to folks on our local HDTV Forum. Absolutely everyone
has been delighted with them (monoprice).

Jordan,

I know nothing about digital cables but I did think Monster's pricing was
rather high. Have you tried both the monoprice cable and a more expensive
HDMI cable to see if there is any visual difference?

Hugh

----- HDTV Magazine Tips List -----

Hugh,

I have not tried any monoprice cables because I just located monoprice. I
have compared connections on my setup using high-priced cables, and lesser
ones and see or hear little, if any difference, up to a point. For example,
when setting up my 7.1 speaker setup, I tried Monster cables and heavy gage
zip cord (12, I think) and heard no difference for speaker runs up to 20'.
I then used the zip cord all around instead.

Now, very cheap video cables, using those I can see a difference, so I
usually buy medium or higher priced ones, but when I need new ones, I will
try monoprice first.
