----- HDTV Magazine Tips List -----

Hi All,

The other day channel 6 WKMG out of Orlando Florida started to transmit wide
screen digital during their news broadcast. I would like to know if anyone
has seen the wide screen broadcast because it looks like all they did is
stretch the picture. Is this the way 480I is going to look like when they
turn off the other TV frequencies?

They need to go to an HD broadcast like our local CBS affiliate, WUSA, did.
I only watch their news because it is in HD.
Of course I think there are only two or three stations that broadcast the
local news in HD right now in the entire country but hopefully that will
quickly change.

This was supposed to happen to the CBS O&O stations, starting with
WBZ (Boston) in March. However, a local AVS poster posted on 3/24
that he'd written to Bob Yankowitz at WBZ, who replied that that
whole project had been delayed indefinitely. I'll be checking the
Boston OTA thread (at AVS) periodically, since that's where updates
to the situation will be posted.
