James,
Your TV is an integrated CRT RPTV of 2006 that has CableCARD and internal
ATSC tuner, and the TV speakers should work with those sources.
If you are using an external cable HD-STB or satellite receiver connected
with the component analog cable to the TV you need to connect the audio
separately as well, if you use HDMI cable the audio would be within that
wire.

Check the menu settings relevant to audio of the TV and the HD-STB if you
use one.

Regarding your question of using an A/V receiver for the audio, it would
certainly give better multichannel audio (for the amps and the large
speakers), but I am not sure why you might want the TV speakers to work with
that setup if you are going to use an A/V receiver, other than having a
simpler parallel audio path out of the audio system, or other than using the
TV speakers as a center channel, but your TV does not have specific audio
inputs to use the internal speakers driven from an external source (as a
center channel), and even if it does I would discourage you from using the
TV speakers as center channel as a permanent installation.
It would be useful if you provide more information when asking these type of
questions, such as the equipment you have connected to the TV, how is
connected, and the content you are playing, so the response could be more
helpful and cover less ground.
Best Regards,
Rodolfo La Maestra
