Rodolfo,

I am looking at TIVO. As I recall though it does not support the
recording of 2 HD cable channels... Having difficulty finding that
spelled out on line.

Are there any other options?

Thanks

Had a Tivo HD with Directv and it worked with recording two hd at once. The
box kept seizing up though and finally after three swap-outs I got the new
HD recorder.

Nothing like the voice of hands experience... :) to do that I need two
cable cards right?

This came up before and at that time it was suggested it would not. As
an example can it record two HD OTA channels?

While the site does state it can record two programs at the same time it
does not specify a configuration.

Next question is I thought I could pay a one time fee for programming
but it appears the choice is only monthly or yearly up to three years in
advance. It also appears as if there is an extended warranty along with
this... true?

This also needs a committed phone line or internet right?

Unless there are multi-stream CableCard decoders out there, then yes, you'll need 2. I'm not aware of any.

Quoted directly from the manual

I have two HD Tivo Series 3 boxes (cablecard). I can confirm that it
can record two programs no matter what the source, OTA HD, HD Cable,
SD Cable. The lifetime service option is no longer offered. The best
you can do is prepay for a 3 year service contract. This
automatically extends the warranty of the box to the end of the
contract.
