Someone who says he is a broadcast engineer posted the following comments on
the 60" Sony SXRD. Is he correct and how bad a problem is this or is it
something you would only see using test equipment?

"I have seen the 60" in two places. At sony style on Madison Ave and circuit
city on Long Island. I ran the AVIA test Signals on it. It passed all tests
with flying colors. Contrast ration better than any other set. Only one
problem: The registration of the color panels (there are three SXRD panels)
is off .
The first set I saw had misregistration on the right
side. Last 1/3rd of the scan. The second set had misregistration from the
center to the right side. I got in contact with Sony customer service. But
it is hard to find someone who is interested. PS. There are no user or
service personnel controls to fix this. I own a service manual and there are
no adjustments. It is either good or bad when you get it. Other than that
the set is perfect."

Hugh asked for input regarding the extent of the Sony SXRD "convergence"
problems.

The rather extensive "Owners Thread" for SXRD's on AVS has probably 6-10
inputs on "convergence". There was one input which discussed a "three
pixel" wide problem on one extremity. None of the others revealed issues on
convergence screens that were visible from a normal viewing distances;
however, most of those inputs discussed some color (on extreme top, bottom
or side blocks) visible within a few feet. None felt the issues affected
normal viewing.

In my case, I can't find any color on my white lines. It's as clean as my
Mitsubishi which took and held a perfect convergence. The only difference
is that I shouldn't have to examine the Sony every couple months.
