From our local Atlanta HDTV group...

I noticed last night that 30 and 30-1 are now airing identical

I suspect it was because the CPB pulled 50% of their funding.

Looks like you may be right. After emailing them over the weekend, I
got a response today. It basically said that they were forced to
discontinue the national HD feed due to a greatly increased cost of
subscription to the HD feed. The response did not answer my question on
whether they will be able to pass ANY HD now. This whole thing is very
dissapointing to me. I loved watching the PBS HD material.

This sounds like a great blog article for Dale...

Any other comments?

You've got to be kidding. There has been no actual congressional cuts for
PBS or CPB to this date.

If there is any validity to what I posted then I guess they were willing
to pay the price.
