Direct TV/Dish network install

I have been unable to access the tips archives regarding the installation of
sat. dish's

I built a new home with a roof which has many hips and ridges and cost me
more than I want to remember. I do not want at almost all costs to have an
installer drill into this roof to install a dish. This home is a ranch and
it does not look possible or presentable to try to install it on the eave.

Can anyone provide any suggestions and/or wisdom on how to deal with Direct
TV on this installation?

I was also thinking of having it installed at ground level but with all the
trees around that also may be impossible.I have witnessed many hack jobs and
would kill if they attempted to provide the same service as I have seen
before.

Thanks
Jim

No chimney and no roof holes? Plus no ground level sat view? Try a pole
anchored in the ground and attached to the edge of the roof (eave). You
should be able to make that work somewhere, preferably near the house
ground.

Joe,

I need two dishs installed which is why I don't want to put 12 penetrations
into my roof. In a year or so I will only need one dish but for the time
period...

The pole sounds like a good idea, any suggestions where to purchase a heavy
enough one to do the job? Thanks again

It should be a 1 1/2" fitting on the dish, but do check it. Or better yet
take it with you to an electrical supply house that has heavy gauge threaded
aluminum pipe. The alternative is steel pipe from a plumbing or hardware
store, again threaded, so you can screw them together for the length you
need. A sat dealer should have the eave offset bracket, or even Radio Shack.
Or you could make one.

Here is a link to a soffit mount kit that I almost bought before the need
for it was eliminated by the single-dish solution Dish 1000:

http://www.smarthome.com/77531.html

It mounts under the soffit, and the mounting bracket extends out
horizontally to take the dish's mounting pad.
