DVI Switching for Theta

This is a question for those of you who attended CES (or might otherwise
know). Does Theta have any known plans to add DVI or HDMI switching to
the Casablanca? I'm sure it is a matter of when and not if, I'm just
wondering if anything has been made public or semi-public. Thanks.

Walt,

Theta was not on the list of exhibitors at CES this year, neither I saw them at the regular place,
sometimes companies prefer to take their stuff into some private suite at one of the hotels (I hate
that for lack of time of moving around Vegas), I do not think they did.

Frankly I do not know why, I got a bit disconnected from them, even though I own their stuff. In
the Ultra hi-end HT gear ($20,000+) on the AVS forum there are some discussions about DVI only,
Theta was quoted as considering HDMI not well for the future.

I suggest for you to contact Theta directly, that is the best way to get the total picture, they
were very good to me, their CS is handled by key people, not like the other large companies.

I am not planning any upgrades related to video on my CBII or Dreadnaught amp, neither adding the
six-shooter they introduced sometime ago, my audio is untouchable, separate rack, separate AC line,
separate line conditioner, audio wires running way out of anything else, I would never add a video
card to risk noise on that beauty, but everyone looks at their own ball game.

However, whatever new card you add, it will cost you as much as a top of the line receiver cost, or
the entire HT for some other people, so be ready. You can be sure of one thing, nobody does digital
audio like Theta, they are the best, so I would not be surprised if the video cards would be
excellent quality, I would rater do the switching on the projector or on a good quality scaler
designed for that purpose, video.

Good luck

Best Regards,

Rodolfo La Maestra

Thanks Rodolfo,
I've been discussing this off-list with a fellow TIPSter who has already
contacted Theta and received no information in return. I hoped some info
would have surfaced at CES.
Best wishes,

Walt
