For what it's worth I was looking at the Mits Diamond specs fro the current
year and found this interesting:

HDMI with analog stereo input (DVI).

Now I know no one uses their television to produce surround sound, but what
do they mean by this?

It strikes me as odd.

HDMI carries both video and audio. They mean that if you connect the
TV to a source with HDMI that is sending out stereo (not Dolby
Digital) audio over the HDMI cable, you can listen to it with the TV
speakers. My Samsung DLP set does this.

I'm not sure what they mean by the "(DVI)" other than with the right
cable you can connect DVI sources to the HDMI input (albeit without
audio).

The (DVI) in parentheses is how it is written in the PDF on their website.
I was just copying verbatim.

If you have a DVI source and convert that to an HDMI connector for an
HDMI input you would have no audio therefore they have included analog
audio inputs.

Speculation only, I did not look up the TV.
