Another point, don't view this as an HD game cause it ain't.
The 1080I/540P? output allowed the end user to by pass the internal
scaler on their display either marginally or dramatically reducing
artifacts i.e. a better image. Artifacts were also reduced by going from
480I to the other scan rates but that again was more a function of the
internal scaler of the display. There may also be a reduction in
artifacts due to processing and upscaling by the PS2 hardware but that
is far trickier to confirm.
