----- HDTV Magazine Tips List -----

Anyone heard of this? A friend of mine sent this to me earlier this
evening. It sounds like a scam to me but IF it isn't then I'd say it's
highly illegal. Comments?

If it sounds too good to be true it is either stolen or a scam.

>From what I see on the spec sheets, it DOES NOT decode HDTV, only SD. And it's a
high priced "blind search" box.

It's illegal.

The way it works is, there are plenty of 'free to air' signals available out
there; nothing illegal or unethical, just free stations from around the
world. NASA, government, special interest, etc., but nothing juicy like
movie channels or PPV. These free channels can be received by way of a
standalone receiver or a computer card attached to a standard 'small dish'
like Dish or DirecTV with dual or triple LNB.

>From that point, you can continue to watch these free channels or step into
the illegal side. There are software hacks that provide decoding of the
'Nagra2' encrypted Dish signal.

Hmmm...

- overuse of colors and bolding
- overuse of half-nude women
- tons of animated images
- hotmail contact address

No further research necessary. I wouldn't touch it.

I enjoyed them too, but on the internet they don't typically help sell
anything worth buying (lingerie and swimsuits notwithstanding).
