I have RCA HD ready TV D34W20-ATC221, it has both Comp video in and DVI in.
I wanted to add a computer as an additional source.

I was able to send the signal into the DVI straight from an ATI 8500 All in
One Card, but the screen size would not fit and there was about an inch of
screen missing from around the picture.

I got a new ATI 2006 card and it will only let me imput the signal into the
comp input and I can adjust the resolution to anything that I can read from
any distance. Pics look great but have to use other monitor to read the
small letters to use keyboard.

Anyone have any thoughts

Ken

I think what is going on is your display simply does not have the
resolution which is not surprising and common for those connecting a PC
to a display like that or CRT RPTVs as well.

The only other thing I can think of is your scan rate from the PC and
how your desktop is set up.

There's a whole world of information about what you're doing on
avsforum.com in the Home Theater Computer section. You can use software
called Powerstrip to tweak the output of the video card using the
component video adapter for ATI.

A couple of basic suggestions:
Change fonts to larger size and icons to large
Create 2 resolutions (1 for movies and one for text - 1920x1080 and
720x480) with hotkeys

What size tv is it?

The reason your display is not doing this is because the horizontal
resolution is limited even though it says HD and HD as defined by the
CEA dwells on the vertical resolution of 720P and 1080I instead
oblivious to the 1280 and 1920 horizontal specs.

The RCA PDF states 1080X910 with 910 in the horizontal and for PC
graphics that is a fuzzy 910 which comes with the territory of your
display technology and the market it was intended for.

Jason knows HTPC!

That should take care of your overall problem but many users consider
that solution a problem in itself as for them you are also reducing
desktop size. That is not really a problem if the main purpose is Home
Theater but again many come in with the wish of reproducing the same
desktop and using their PC the same way they did with their PC monitor.
