Hi Joseph,

The Panasonic TH-50PHD7UY is my current reference 50-inch plasma panel.
It is simply awesome. It has accurate color decoding, good gamma and the
best blacks in the business. Here is a review I did of it for CNET.

Hope this helps.

Does anyone have any experience with the Panasonic TH-50PHD7UY? I
currently own a Mits 55511 but am moving into a new home with speakers
in the wall in the family room and am considering hanging a plasma on
the wall because I think I can get a good deal (so then I'll probably
add a theater room in the basement down the road; perhaps the Mits can
go there if not upgraded by then). Any comments on how this model
stacks up vs. other consumer models and/or vs. the Mits? (in picture
only -- I know it doesn't have a tuner and that I probably need to add
on more digital connections
via the card slot) Thanks for any input.

My father tells me that in New Jersey he cannot receive any HD package
via satellite or cable for commercial purposes as in a bar or in this
case a country club.

Any input on this?

Thanks

Thanks, that helps. I had read the CNet review previously and that's what put me on to this model. But then I went into a Meyer Emco store on the off-chance they'd have one, and the guy turned up his nose when I asked to see Panasonics (which they don't sell). He showed me a Runco for 15k and said that's the best, otherwise Pioneer Elite makes the best plasma (mind you I'm not looking to spend north of 5k). The kicker was he added that the non-consumer model Panasonic I was asking about was not a good idea for watching HD because it was meant for making presentations, showing spreadsheets, etc. So the positive feedback from the list helps confirm I was right to ignore that guy ... Thanks.

I know that a lot of dealers do not like Panasonic simply because
Panasonic does not enforce "suggested list price" (refer to Panasonic as
"whores"). That's the only reason that Meyer Emco is so negative on
Panasonic.
