"Hitachi said the new models would be the first on the market able to
simultaneously record two high-definition programs"

Where have they been. I was doing that with my HD-TiVos 15 months ago.

They probably mean the first "DVD Recorder".

Then again, there aren't any DVD Recorders that can even record one
high-definition program on the market that I know of.

So what is the capacity of the DVD recorder part? I didn't see it listed in
the article. It's obviously not 1 Terabyte since that is the hard drive
capacity. And unless it uses a blu laser, 1 dual layer disc is only around
8.5 GBs enough for only 1 hour of HD.

I think Hitachi is talking about DVD recording.
That's a bit more permanent than hard drive recording.

Of course your correct, their statement does beg the question however, what
consumer DVD recorder is currently on the market that is capable of
recording one HDTV program? Or are they referring to professional
equipment?
