----- HDTV Magazine Tips List -----
Dear Tipsters,
I hope you have been following the articles by our Ed Milbourn. They are
found on our main web site under "articles" and each title starts with "Ed's
View". Do take a look at them at your liesure. Our aim with these articles
has been to offer enough background that "authority" replaces opinion. I
have posted Ed's credentials at the end of this paragraph and you will
quickly see why we are very proud to have Ed as part of our contributing
authors. I urged him today to spend some time on the Tips list to get a
feel for what level of knowledge you are building among yourselves and what
may still be missing or being established by conjecture more than
experience. So, I have installed Ed on the Tips and please continue as
always...or, you might want to address some specific questions to him after
reading his articles. He is the insiders insider as you will see from his
distinguished career record.
About Ed Milbourn
After graduating from Purdue University with degrees in Electrical
Engineering and Industrial Education in 1961 and 1963 respectively, Ed
Milbourn joined the RCA Home Entertainment Division in 1963. During his
thirty-eight year career with RCA (later GE and Thomson multimedia), Mr.
Milbourn held the positions of Field Service Engineer, Manager of Technical
Training and Manager of Sales Training. In 1987, he joined Thomson's Product
Management group as Manager of Advanced Television Systems Planning, with
responsibilities including Digital Television and High Definition Television
Product Management. Mr. Milbourn retired from Thomson multimedia in December
2001, and is now a Consumer Electronics Industry consultant.
Dear Ed,
Welcome to the Tips list. Let me introduce you to the most knowledgable
batch of HDTV enthusiasts in the world--HDTV Magazine Tipsters. They number
just under 1000 today on this list. They may not always be harmony with each
other but they all take HDTV with a tad of seriousness and consider it, I
believe, as a contrbition to the better part or even all of mankind for our
times. I know you will enjoy meeting this audience who have long embraced
your work. And...of course...be prepared to experience the controlled and
civilized wrath of those who could not get the "12:00 to stop blinking!"
