----- HDTV Magazine Tips List -----
The following is an excerpt from the Afterdawn.com newsletter
regarding the LG combo unit. The typos are in the original. I
copied it literally the way it originally appeared in the
newsletter. Seems to me that I agree with their bargain
comment. $1,200 seems to be a very good bargain for those who want
to be close to the leading edge. Hopefully, those of you fortunate
enough to be at CES can stop by the LG demo and give us your comments
about this unit.
Shane, I assume that the Tips system can only handle text. Are there
any plans to allow HTML in the future which of course would allow
graphics or would it prove to be too unwieldy and take too much space
on the server?

LG Touts Blu-Ray burner & HD DVD reader combo drive
5 January 2007 9:00 by Dela
With new of the company's upcoming dual-format payer to be displayed
at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) just fresh, LG is using the
shotgun method to somewhat unify both blue-laser, next generation
formats by releasing a Blu-Ray player/HD DVD reader combo. The
GGW-H10N drive will playback Blu-Ray, HD DVD, DVD & CD discs and can
burn to dual layer 50GB BD-R/BD-RE (re-writable) discs.
The burner also doubles the industry's standard rate for 25GB
single-layer BD-R recording with 4x speed. It is expected to ship
around March in the United States carrying a hefty price tag of about
$1,200, which going by today's prices is considered a bargain since
all the features are packed in to one drive.
The GGW-H10N is also the first to support "SecurDisc" technology
co-developed with Nero. SecurDisc gives users the option to protect
their burns with password encryption, digital signature & checksum
integrity checker.
