James,
Not a Marantz but Onkyo could do.
This Onkyo announcement came a few minutes ago after my email:
New receiver, HDMI 1.3a, new hi-bit audio decoders, etc.

For immediate release:
Onkyo Unveils Powerhouse Home Theater Line
Numerous firsts in AV technology mark Onkyo's "...strongest line in years."
JERSEY CITY, NJ (4/24/07) -- At a press conference held here today in
advance of its Spring 2007 Rep Show, Onkyo USA has introduced a broad
line-up of market-leading audio-video products, including several with
advanced audio, video, and control technologies not previously available to
consumers. Many other advanced features previously found only on high-end
models are now available at much lower price points.
The core of the line consists of seven new A/V receivers and three packaged
HTiB (home theater in a box) systems including one with HDMI switching.
These will provide consumers at all price points with home theater
capabilities and performance that is superior to the products of Onkyo's
marketplace competitors.
Onkyo's new line includes the world's first AV receivers to employ Silicon
Optix's Reon-VX HQV 1080p video-processing chip as well as the first with
Neural-THX Surround processing. Other new features include HDMI version
1.3a, XM and Sirius Satellite radio capability, HD Digital Radio capability,
Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD Master Audio, and Microsoft
PlaysForSure compatibility. This line also includes models with improved
amplifier technology, bi-wire capability, Ethernet and USB connectivity,
Audyssey automatic room calibration, and RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI)
capabilities.
"This is the strongest line from Onkyo in years," said Paul Wasek, Marketing
Manger. "Our strong relationship with partners like THX, Silicon Optix, XM,
Sirius and HD Radio has allowed us to create a feature rich line-up from the
entry level TX-SR505 all the way through the TX-NR905. We're proud to
introduce the first AVR's incorporating the Reon-VX HQV chip and THX Neural
Surround processing. We've given our dealers what we feel is the strongest
receiver line-up available that will not only drive sales and but also
invigorate consumer excitement about these new AV technologies."
The company has recently begun shipping two of the entry-level AV receivers
and all three new HTiB systems. In May it will deliver the mid-price
TX-SR605, a standout model both in terms of features and value. The first of
the higher-end THX models will also arrive in May with the final three
arriving in June, July, and August respectively.

James,
There is not a simple answer to cover well your question. And I generally
start by asking people "how much do you want to know?"
But since you are in this Tips list I assume you want to know. So I am
giving below just some starters.
I am not sure you if are referring to "your time for", but the time for
Blu-ray, 1080p, and HDMI 1.3 is already here.
HDMI 1.3:
--------------
However, current equipment has not yet implemented all what they can do with
1.3. At the end, you want the entire system compliant, not just one piece,
as follows:
A) 1080p24/60 on a player is not enough if the display cannot handle it, or
the switcher, or the chip, or the cable, or the A/V receiver you channel the
signal thru.
B) HDMI 1.3 on a player is not enough if the display device does not have
the features that the connection can transport (deep Color, x.v.YCC,etc), or
there is no content to play.
C) Blu-ray might not be good enough if the player is missing features, a
hi-bit audio decoder, a 1.3 connection for streaming out to a new A/V
receiver you purchased with decoders, a 1080p24fps output for a projector
that can handle it.
In other words, they produce a combined effect within the system, but you
can still enjoy them on their common features, 1080i, 1080p60 with a capable
TV, HDMI non-1.3 capable of LPCM, etc.
It is good to look for the 1.3 feature that is not going to cost much more
if you are to upgrade, but do not upgrade for the sake of 1.3. Not yet,
maybe another year or two when more selection is out there.
In other words, why upgrade to 1.3 to been able to transport something you
cannot use? Unless you are upgrading in a piece meal approach, and
preparing for near future upgrades of the rest of the system.
1080P:
----------
1080p is handled since 1.0. But some chips, not the spec, might not handle
it. Most current good quality cables (and chips) might handle it but some
cables might not handle it (even from that big "name").
1080p60 requires double of the bandwidth of 1080i60, the chip on the
equipment you have could be capable but the internals could be restricted in
bandwidth (A/V receiver, TV, etc).
To find out, look for official confirmations from the manufacturer, not
casual internet/forum exchanges.
Blu-ray:
----------
Blu-ray could make good use of 1.3 if you want to externally decode the
soundtrack multi-channel (Dolby TrueHD, Plus, DTS-HD, all hi-bit) and
transport the stream out of the player (pass-thru).
The above is a good solution if you bought a player that does not have the
hi-bit audio decoders and you want to buy a near future A/V receiver that
has them (this will save you from replacing the player for missing
decoders).
However, that pass-thru feature offers no audio mixes (director commentary,
internet) with the soundtrack.

Thanks Joe,
When the time comes for a Blue Ray player and 1080P Tv, would they require a
new receiver? Or will this only occur when the HDNI 1.3 standard us agreed
upon?
