I am out of the country and just picked this link up from the MSN Tricks and Gadget mailing list. Has anyone tried these clips? They claim 1080p. http://www.wmvhd.com/

Yes, I have download all of them and their beautiful - the only catch is
that the soundtrack is in "wma pro" which was designed more for a
computer system than a home theater. It's a 5.1 format, but like DVD-A,
it requires a sound card with 5 outputs which you convert to RCA cables
to connect to 5 channel analog inputs on your receiver, then there is no
bass management (that I am aware of). Some motherboards can convert on
the fly to DD 5.1 or you can use software to do this. I've done both and
it works, it's just not simple. They are glorious 1080p clips...but also
sort of trick you by not having DRM while the actual WMV-HD movies have
DRM. So you may think you can play wmv-hd on your standalone player
because these clips play, but you cannot.

I'm in the process of qualifying the Pinnacle Showcenter 200 which now
claims to support drm by way of 'windows media connect' - however the
software that runs on the host fails to install on both computers I've
tried it on.

Jason, Have you viewed the movie below?

I just saw the Funk Brothers 2 weeks ago (theere are
two remaining original players but the Movie was from
a tour with four of the originals)I would be
interested in the sound quality, since I will buy the
movie anyway, I will probably go ahead and get the 2
disc set with the HD Win files.

The (Funk Brothers)Standing in the Shadows of Motown
DVD set includes a Windows Media High Definition Video
DVD-ROM

The DVD set is available now, complete with a second
disc that contains the full movie in WMV HD. Check out
this incredible documentary about the Funk Brothers,
the unheralded musicians that played on more number
one hits than the Rolling Stones, Elvis, the Beatles,
and the Beach Boys combined.

I'm familiar with it, but since I haven't had any requests for it, I
haven't picked it up. The thing about the audio quality is going to
depend on how you're going to play it. Your best option is to play it on
a computer connected to your tv, and use software or hardware to convert
wma pro to dolby digital on the fly. If you have that kind of setup,
you'll probably enjoy it. Otherwise, you'll have to specify how you'll
be watching for me to comment. While I haven't seen it myself, I have
heard good things about it.

Yes, you can watch WM9 HD-DVDs (aka WMV-HD DVDs) on a computer running
Windows XP with no problem. The problem comes with devices that are not
computers and can't get past the built-in protection.
