----- HDTV Magazine Tips List -----
OK, here's some industry news that's in development. Dr. Raymond Soneira, PhD, of 'DisplayMate Technologies'
http://www.displaymate.com/ , is performing another HD display "shootout" for Widescreen Review Magazine. This will be the 5th in a
series of in-depth articles that evaluated the generic differences between consumer HDTV types. Here are some links to the first 4:

http://www.displaymate.com/wsr_display_ ... art_ii.pdf
http://www.displaymate.com/wsr_display_ ... rt_iii.pdf
http://www.displaymate.com/wsr_display_ ... art_iv.pdf
These articles are the type that keeps me subscribing to Widescreen Review year after year. They should be in the research library
of every serious videophile. I'm currently re-reading the series for the second time and am amazed at how much more I'm
understanding this time through. This 5th article will evaluate and compare 6 LCoS displays in detail and is scheduled to appear in
the November issue, which comes out in October. I'm expect one or more will be 1080p displays.
Dr. Soneira has taken an interest in my company's viewing environment solutions, especially my Ideal-Lume back lights. He purchased
one from us several weeks ago and then asked to borrow more for the shootout. The articles he wrote for the WSR series discuss many
aspects of display viewing environment conditions and human perceptual issues. It's refreshing to have another genuine industry
luminary acknowledging the importance of 6500K back lighting for optimum display performance and viewer comfort. This topic is not
a new subject, but most consumers and industry professionals still don't appreciate the profound impact this technique can have on
image quality, human perception and viewing comfort. I know some of the Tips List members use this technique and are happy with the
results.
Best regards and beautiful pictures,
