Need Opinion of Mitsubishi WD73734

I'm looking to upgrade my TV to approximately 70+
inches. I've seen the display of the Mitsubishi
WD73734 and have been impressed. Does anybody have
this model or the Mitsubishi WD73733 model? From what
I can tell, the only difference between the two models
is an extra HDMI port on the 34 model.

I'll be connecting component pieces primarily in the
beginning, but will change them out piece by piece to
HDMI in the future... including HD-DVD or Blue Ray.
Otherwise the setup is HD DirecTV, XBox 360, and a DVD
player... all component currently.

Any complaints about this TV or maybe a suggestion for
a different TV in this size range that is around
$3,000? This one is DLP and reviews have said there
is no noticible rainbow effect. I've seen this TV for
$3099.00 and the 33 model for $2999.00.

Thanks!

Go with the 734 series if you want Mits. It includes perfect tint which
is the only way your calibrator or you will be able to straighten the
color decoder out.

The 833 adds the new 3d game FX connection along with 1394 and and fully
illuminated remote. It also adds 120hz but Mits explanation for what it
does is quite odd and never infers the power of how 120 is the magic
number for all available frame rates...

from my training class manual
Smooth 120Hz
Doubling the frame rate makes motion more fluid and fast moving images
are displayed blur free.

The instructor went on about stuff related to scaling rather than frame
rates and knowing Mits I would not be surprised by any of that. I
confess that what he was talking about was so foreign to 120hz imaging
science that I guess I blocked exactly what he said... imagine a huge
frown and wrinkle across my forehead, basically looking like a huge
question mark... LOL

It's not what it used to be frankly and it is getting tougher and
tougher as we move forward to find quality imaging in a stand alone display.

Right now for videophiles decent imaging science comes in

front projection
plasma - believe it or not... Panasonic or Pioneer...

I hope we see another wave of quality stand alone consumer displays like
we had from about 2001 to 2005 but it doesn't look good from everything
I hear... The goal now is preparing for flat and cheap with less
manufacturers supporting MD RP technology!!! The word is it will all be
flat in about 2 years!

My Mits 65" CRT RP still rocks regardless of the beached whale it is!

I struggled with this very dilemma a week ago... told my parents to buy
a 734 or hunt down a used Samsung HLP model... they went new.
Considering all the future features it supports and decent imaging I
think they made out fine.

Thanks for the insight Richard! I couldn't really
care less about being totally flat. It would be nice,
but the ultimate for me is to have the right inputs,
be future-ready, and, of course, a great image.

In the $3,000 range, is there anything else that
anybody would recommend other than the WD73734?

Thanks.
