----- HDTV Magazine Tips List -----

This question is directed to those who may have Direct TV service (or
are familiar with their offerings).

Please correct or advise: I recall that Direct offers a service in which
nearly all (or all) NFL games are offered in HD for about $400/season.

This means that someone (CBS, Fox or local broadcasters) is producing HD
for distribution on Direct.

My question is this: If they are all produced in HD, why are any ever
transmitted in SD on DTV? My local DTV outlet for CBS often shows SD.

Howard in South Bend, where some will attend a bowl game!

Howard,

CBS usually only shows 3 games/week in HD on Sundays. It appears that your affiliate is
using one of the other games for broadcast. I recommend http://hdsportsguide.com for info on
what games CBS shows in HD.

Today DirecTV carried 9 NFL games in high definition. They were on channels
719-727. The Sunday night and Monday night games are also HD, but are not
part of NFL Sunday Ticket. -Ken

Thanks, Ken and Tony!

Ok, so does that mean that Fox does six games in HD while CBS does only
three? There were 14 games this PM.

During the regular season Fox does the NFC & CBS does AFC. While ESPN does Sunday night in HD

I miss the old HD sports weekly
I will try to find out if CBS has plans for more HD
Games
Fox does ~90% of their games in HD though 720p
I have heard comments already that the CBS 1080i games
are clearer and the fast motion pan jutter problems of
past seem to be gone
I do see whites on CBS that seem to glow or resonate??
guys in the sports trucks outside are allways
adjusting the balance of white and xolors, live hd
video is great..
