OTA Reception

About two years ago Bob Caplan and Jason Burroughs
helped me correct an OTA reception problem I was
having with my Dish 921 receiver. When I tried to tune
in channel 8.1 (San Diego CBS) I got channel 4 out of
Los Angeles. The advice was to disconnect the antenna
cable from the 921, do a digital scan to clear the
memory, unplug the 921 for five minutes, reconnect and
do another digital scan. The procedure worked in 2005
but is not effective now. Any advice? Thanks in
advance.

Wow, you remember that since then!!!!! Perhaps you can try to manually
enter digital channel 55 (KFMB-DT) into your 921. That's all I can think
of. KFMB and KNBC aren't even close in digital channel number. Perhaps
there is a PSIP problem with KNBC.

Thanks Bob. Manually entering the digital channel was
not effective so I tried the original fix again but
this time I left the 921 unplugged for 15 minutes and
I am now back in business. Why 15 minutes is better
than 5 minutes is a mystery. Thanks again for your
help.

Joe,

The 15 minutes allows the stored memory to time out.

These are the bits of information that I love about this tips list. I always
thought 3-5 minutes was plenty of time to clear memory. I have been educated
again.
