Proposed idea ... would like the lists opinion

----- HDTV Magazine Tips List -----

Hello all,

As many of you know, we have a small forum located here:
http://www.hdtvmagazine.com/forum/index.php. The primary purpose of this
forum is for news reporting and to provide a place for people to comment
upon articles that have been posted (similar to blog commenting, if you are
familiar with that). Anyway, we are starting to receive some posts to our
general forum by people who have (usually basic) HDTV questions. The
frequency is about 1 per week. It seemed to me that it might be a good idea
to let the tips list know when a question like this was posted so that
those who wished could help them out via reply posting to the forum.

So to get to the nuts and bolts of it: How would this list feel about begin
notified when a new questions was posted? This notification would come to
the list, just as any other post with a link to the question/topic on our
forum.

If this eventually because too much clutter in the list, it could be turned
back off ... or could be switched to a daily digest of questions asked so
that no more than one email per day would be sent to the list.

I'm all for it. I help people in a lot of other forums that are not even
related specifically to
HD including Kongisking.net. Hate to beat a dead horse but as Sy Syms used
to say "An educated consumer is our best customer"

This is a good idea, but I'd suggest that the answers be captured and molded
into a FAQ that can be referred to, so that the same questions aren't asked
over and over again.

There's marketing value there, too.

I don’t see a need for another HDTV forum. Every time a new forum starts up
it dilutes the efforts of the others. (But then, I see the Tips List as
just another forum, so there must be something wrong with me.) -Ken

A FAQ has been on the to-do list for a while, although not very near the
top. The forum does have a search facility and one would hope that one
would search for the answer to their question prior to asking it ;-)
Sometimes it works that way.

I agree Ken, believe it or not. Our intent was never to start another
forum, as I thought the same as you that there were enough out there
already. As I mentioned, our original intent of the "Forum" on our site was
for news reporting and to provide a place for people to comment on articles
that have been posted. The only reason we started a handful of "regular"
discussion forums was due to user request. And we're not really promoting
them ... just trying to support what our visitors seem to want.

So while we will not be putting any direct effort into building this forum,
I would still like to help out those few that decide to swing by.

Hello all,

As many of you know, we have a small forum located here:
http://www.hdtvmagazine.com/forum/index.php. The primary purpose of this
forum is for news reporting and to provide a place for people to comment
upon articles that have been posted (similar to blog commenting, if you are
familiar with that). Anyway, we are starting to receive some posts to our
general forum by people who have (usually basic) HDTV questions. The
frequency is about 1 per week. It seemed to me that it might be a good idea
to let the tips list know when a question like this was posted so that
those who wished could help them out via reply posting to the forum.

So to get to the nuts and bolts of it: How would this list feel about begin
notified when a new questions was posted? This notification would come to
the list, just as any other post with a link to the question/topic on our
forum.

If this eventually because too much clutter in the list, it could be turned
back off ... or could be switched to a daily digest of questions asked so
that no more than one email per day would be sent to the list.
