Watching television last night I saw a promo for a new release. At the
end of the add the voice over stated, available on DVD and PSP. I
believe that PSP is the new Sony portable. Which begs the question, is
this a Sony or Columbia release, or has the market for this format
developed more than I had realized? I wish I could remember the title
they were promoting, that would answer the first part of the question.
If anyone has any input on this please comment.

If you google for PSP movies, you'll find there are a bunch. They are in
a proprietary format called UMD and pretty good quality from what I
hear. You can also put your own computer files on a memory stick and
play them, which means people are ripping DVDs to hard drive then
copying them to memory stick.

I've had a number of people ask about renting them, but I don't think
the markets that big for them quite yet. But I see it as a growing trend
that will eventually eclipse mp3s - taking video on the go. The density
of HD-DVD will allow for a decent amount of hd quality video in a small
form factor. If done right, the HD-DVD format miniaturized could be the
killer app that takes cell phones/pdas/handhelds to the next level.
