The information of projectors, lenses options, etc all is on the 2006
report.

Add to it $14K for a Cinewide Stewart Firehawk screen 2.35:1 with full 4 way
motorized masking for about 130" diagonal, the same version in flat is about
$2500, you provide the masking. That is the screen Runco uses to promote
their product, for the rich and famous of course.

They use their own lens/transport deal, so disregard the quotes about lens
and lens transport I sent you on a private email, those work for other
projectors.

Arnold,

There is no HT 5000 on the Sim2 line

But there is a 5000 in the Mitsu line:

http://www.projectorpeople.com/projecto ... p?sid=OVMT

In the Sim 2 line up you have two that might be what you had in mind:

There is HT 3000 for $16K TTM Oct 06, with an optional motorized anamorphic
lens for CinemaScope for a whooping extra $12K

And the new D80 for $10K introduced in Nov 06.

Both 1080p, single chip DarkChip3 0.95-inch, 4-5K CR, 160-200watt lamp
(depending of the projector).

I believe I have read a recent review in one of the magazines about one of
the above.

I did not see them myself, I frankly cannot remember if they were at all at
CES, but with that kind of money they should produce an image twice as
better than the JVC, Sony, Optoma all 1080p, and I doubt they will, or it
has to offer features that other projectors do not have for their lower
price, but it has to cook hamburgers in 2 minutes as a differentiator.

In fact the JVC and the Optoma (and the Sony) offer higher CR, higher
lumens, higher lamp watts, and their scalers are excellent quality.

This projector is competing with the Sharp price range above $10K, but for
the same price you can get one of the above with the screen and the
CinemaScope lenses included (no transport though), and you might even have
money left for Richard to go there on vacation to ISF the baby for you, are
you pack already Richard?

Best Regards,

Rodolfo La Maestra

Arnold,

You are correct, Sim2 does have an HT5000 in their line up......and I saw it
in it's prototype stage back in November. It looked great, but it has a
$50,000 price tag.

Thanks Arnold.

That one certainly went under the radar.

Some companies believe that we have all the time in the world to find where
they are and go around hotels to visit their products as they were queens.
This year I limited myself to the most important ones when they were out of
the convention centers, and I told the others to put their act together and
consider the schedule of busy people.

In my experience a hotel visit means 3 hrs of my time, most of it on the
taxi lines two ways, 3hrs could mean 6 chained meetings at the convention
center with all the other important companies. Who needs that?

One particular case was BenQ , Richard wanted me to talk to them and not
even the CES personnel knew where they were, so much for BenQ, but I frankly
wanted to see their new projector.

Thanks again for the info.

Best Regards,

Rodolfo La Maestra
