The time has finally come to replace the venerable Pioneer Elite
Pro520HD with a newer model. I'm considering the Sony XBR8 and the
Pioneer Elite Kuro. I'd prefer a 60", so I'm leaning toward the Kuro.
I'm hoping for a couple of opinions:

Plasma vs LCD: plasma appears to win with darker blacks, but the
lifespan of LCD seems longer. Is there a generally accepted answer as
to which is better in what regards?

Is there anything about either model that really stands out as
exceptionally bad or exceptionally good?

My use of this TV will be blu-ray, OTA HD, and Dish. I do not care
about the quality of SD.

I also noticed that Pioneer has the Kuro TV and the Kuro monitor with
no tuner and no stand (but $500 more!).

Realistically, I probably will not have the set calibrated
professionally, if that changes the recommendation.

thanks!

Jason

With a minimum of 50,000 hours of half life, you will get a new TV long
before your Kuro plasma wears out. And 50,000 is conservative as Panasonic
now claims 100,000 hours for theirs. As there are 8760 hours in a year, and
if you watch TV for only 6 hours a day, every day, you will have a half life
of 22.8 years at 50,000 hours.

The Kuro is the best plasma today, with the Panasonic broadcast just behind.
I actually like the older PDP 5000EX/Pro F-HD1 models better, but they are
no longer.

Jason,

I have a Pioneer Kuro Elite Pro-150FD, the Elite version of the 6010 model.
You can't go wrong with a Pro-151FD or the 6020. You'll love either.
