I wish to find out if it is a mistake to pay the price for the Sharp LC-65XS1U-S. I am aware of the diminishing return for increase in price. I like the Kuro Elite Plasma's but want a 65" or larger display. I had hope that Pioneer would offer one this year. I can afford the funds but don't care to look silly or stupid if the quality doesn't justify it to some extent. Any experience or thoughts would be appreciated. C. CURTIS

Richard: Thank you for your response. I am sure no one on our list has any experience with the nearly outrageously priced Sharp, therefore, zero responses until you. I was only considering it because I have upgraded everything except the TV. I was aware of the 65" Panasonic but the thoughts I've heard was that it is a step below the Pioneer Elite Kuros. When Pioneer repeated the 60" size I started to look at the LCD's and DLP"s. Since the LC-65XS1U-S was the newest kid on the block I was hoping this might be the one. Maybe it is my less sensitive 75 year old eyes but the existing Sony HD2 in my system (65" purchased in 2000) looks terrific - No HDMI 1.3a though therefore no 1080p(not sure the newer technology out there looks better though). I will keep looking. Thanks again! Charles C.

Charles, go check out the Panasonic in person. I really don't understand why so many want to put the Kuro on such a high pedestal when it isn't all that hard to knock it right off. The differences are not night and day and dwell in the subtlety of the well trained eye. Many a calibrator would argue the Panasonic line is equal if not better... their commercial line has been highly regarded for years...
