Sharp LCD, how fast?

James, Bob,

Not quite.

James said he has a 45" (no model # mentioned), unfortunately, no 45" LCD from Sharp has
specifications in the order of 4ms, not yet.

The new one just released in Mar 06 as part of the D40U line goes as low as 6ms, while the others
generally still in the 12ms speed.

The new 57" is the only one claiming 4ms, TTM Mar 06, 1080p, of D90 line, the 45" of the same line
is still 6 ms, which is still quite an improvement from the 12ms.

Even the 65" which transformed since Nov 05 to the current model was originally 12ms, and is not yet
in the 4ms range, and that unit was introduced for $21000 back then with just 12ms and is now 6ms

http://www.sharpusa.com/products/ModelL ... _LC-65D90U

When I viewed this set as a prototype with 12ms it was unacceptable to my eyes, remember $21000 as
an innovation, now at half the lag it is to be expected to have improved, but I have seen so many
large LCDs at the show that I can not possibly remember how it compared with the year before, but I
remember that a common denominator was that they were all going better and faster, and certainly
1080p with 1080p inputs.

Quick Shoot is the name of that circuitry and is progressing to lower and lower response times even
on sets that did not even change the model number to jump from 12ms to 6 ms, such as the 65" model.

For the complete detail of how these sets progressed in technical development over the last years
please consult the last 3 yearly reports on the LCD panel section.

Again, James, enjoy what you have to the fullest, ignore the spec and do not look for artifacts when
you are actually enjoying the content and the quality of the image presented to your eyes, the
primary objective.

Best Regards,

Rodolfo La Maestra

James,
Sharp is claming a 4ms response time for your Aquos. Maybe that speed has solved the problem.

Rodolfo, James
You are correct as usual. I went back to the website and it was the 57 inch set that claimed 4ms. I would like to see a review of that model. Maybe the entire line will have 4ms in the next two years.

Bob, Rodolfo

I have a LC-45GD5U if that helps. It is the model with an integrated HDTV
and cable card. My 30 " Aquos has a separate AVC HDTV system.
