A friend ask me my opinion on this Sony model - mine is a positive
one since I have had good experiences with Sony TV's in the past and
I recall good reviews but sometimes an occasional comment on the
"green color". Has anyone had any hands-on experiences I can relate
to my friend? Thank you for any responses

Charles,

Granted, most here won't put much stock in Consumer Reports; however, they
recently picked the SXRD XBR2 as this year's best HD TV (including LCD,
Plasma, CRT, and other LCOS models).

The green you are discussing is probably the "green blob" issue on the
XBR1's. In fact, Sony recently extended the optical block (OB) warranty on
the XBR1's until October 2008 because of the green blob. There doesn't
currently appear to be a similar issue with the XBR2's. XBR2's already have
a 2 year OB warranty.

I have an XBR1 and consider it to be a great TV. The following thread on
AVS has more than you will ever want to read regarding the XBR2.
